Perhaps I wasn't specific enough in my question so I'll go ahead and be a bit more specific in what I mean.
1) What happens if there is a stalemate? For example, what if the 2 warriors decided to take 7 empty skill slot and then healing signet with max tactic. (An unlikely case, but it's there simply to illustrate a possible scenario)
2) Let's say I choose my skill bar for my first opponent to be "Charge!", "Fear Me!", "To the Limit!", Healing Signet, Thrill of Victory "For Great Justice!", Distracting Blow, Frenzy, Wild Blow. (I just copy pasted the tactic skills btw) Am I allowed to say, after I win the first round, change my skill bar or am I stuck with it for the rest of the tournament?
Thanks you, and this does sounds somewhat intresting, just want to get the rules cleared up.

Well, there is a time-limit (ten minutes) for each match. If people do bring something ridiculous like only one skill, I will take it they intentionally did it to be silly and did not enter the tournament to actually win, so both players will be disqualified and that's that, although it's highly unlikely for both players to do it as opposed to only one. So far the list of participants are mostly people I'm familiar with and I do know they would not waste their time being stupid after paying to sign-up.
And no, you are not stuck with the same skillbar. You can change it after any match.

What happens when the time limit is reached? Say if someone brought Hamstring, Sprint, Healing Signet and "Charge!" and was able to survive for 10 minutes, what would be the outcome?

The judging will also mostly be based on who was able to be on the offensive more and who was mostly on the defensive end. If by the ten-minute mark one player is observed to have been on the defense moreso than the other etc., than the one that was more aggressive yet still able to survive will be deemed the winner.

I'm sorry but this is too limited. Same class battles with a pre-defined set of skills and no secondary? What's the point? You are limiting my ability to build, and so any build I made is not my own...it's yours.
So I am supposed to pay 5k to play your build against someone else using a different version of your build? There's not enough individuality for my taste. What would make this first round worth it for me is this:
1. Warrior primary, any secondary of contestant's choice.
2. All skills are legal. All builds are legal. All battle tactics are legal.
3. All builds must be submitted to the "board of trustees" before the match begins and that build must be played to the end of the tourney.
4. Any deviation from the submitted build will result in immediate disqualification.
5. Best 2 out of 3 matches wins and continues.
6. 10 minute rounds maximum. Should any match go longer, one or BOTH contestant(s) [judge's decision] are disqualified immediately and their entry fees will be forfeited. This will eliminate all the griefing builds in the first round as well as limiting the number of griefers since they will likely just lose their 5k.
Hrm....what else? Not sure but that would at least get my interest. It would mean a W/Me with a staff and a bar full of Mesmer skills could be an opponent you would have to face and require a build tailored not only to beat caster Warriors but also melee ones.
Why should I be interested in being one of 2 Warriors whose only option is to run in and beat each other with a generic weapon? Every match will be (more or less) the same.
EDIT: Not to mention the fact that without Doylak or Balanced stance included in your "allowed skills", this will end up being a stupid KD battle.

I do believe you are allowed to bring gale and shock, plague touch, deaths charge, and TF. What this really seems to be for me is a standard warrior 1v1 that might happen in a gvg, because these are pretty much all the gvg skills ppl use on warriors (besides auspicious parry as Ensign said)

If it goes over 10 minutes, both are disqualified? So if you're running a good build and you happen to fight a greifer with a bar full of defensive stances, you just lose? Sorry, but I would pass on that. The reason you have to put restrictions on the battle is because Guild Wars was simply not designed for 1v1 combat.

Tad confused about Ranger battle?
I'm interested...... but I want to use my ranger with my build, so I'd have to enter the "Best" competion to do so, and if I did so its more then likely that I'd be faced off with a 55 monk any implications on this, or just use anti spell skill? (Grats on getting guild of the week a while back, ya I looked =P)

The only major problem with the tournament I have is the 5k entrance fee, that just seems like a tad too much for such a big tournament as this, that and the fact that the prize money will only be given to the top 2, instead of the top 8, which would give ppl more insentive to participate.

So it starts today? What are the brackets? Also I have to say I can't be on for very long today (I'm going and doing stuff with friends) but I should be free to do any matches Saturday or Sunday. For reference, my IGN is Random Engy.
